    Down South of the Border

    I am home!

I have returned from another continent, called South America by some, where my dad and I were at the Stansberry Home where Leon and Deneen Ropp are serving.  It was quite the experience.  We went with 12 others from Duchess and Rosemary, and spent time seeing Santa Cruz, sanding and varnishing windows in the new classrooms at the daycare, and sweating from the heat.  Good times.

It was good to see and experience another culture, and to spend time with Pop.  This was our trip that I was supposed to take when I turned 16, but never did because I was too busy.  I enjoyed meeting some new people and seeing a little what the life and ministry of Stansberry is down there.  We got home last night at 2:30, so I am tired.  If only it were faster and easier to get down there, I would go more often.  Now that I am back in the winter of Alberta, I can think about shoveling the walk again.  Oh joy.

    Living with Wesley

For the last few weeks, my wife and I have had a guest in our home named Wesley Neufeld.  Wesley likes two eggs and one bun in the morning for breakfast.  Anything else is less than adequate, these are his utmost desire.  Wesley has a cracked cornea in his eye, so it has been very sore.  He also has hygiene that leaves much to be desired.  Living with Wesley is a lesson on loving others.  Watching him openly be affectionate with people reminds me that sometimes I hold back on showing people that I care about them.  What part of God's heart does Wesley show us?  It is crazy to think that lot so long ago anyone with Down's Syndrome was put into a home as a child and isolated from society.  He is trying to wrestle me now, so I should go.
